KENZO SPRING/SUMMER 2013

Looking at last years Kenzo Spring/Summer range, there was alot of clashing prints and bright colour.

A Jess member of my group have developed some digital print on fabric samples paint prints on them, I feel we are relating well to the kenzo style.

KNIT EXPERIMENTATION

Over the easter holidays I have started to experiment possible techniques through knit, taking the shapes and earthy colours primarily from this picture (below) bearing in mind our muse Suki and Odha-su's quirky and cool life but still with relation to Kenzo.

This was the starting point of my knit experiment.

I have experimented with fringing, tasseling, e-wrapping using varied yarn weights and colours and adding strips of ribbon.

I know need to carry on developing these further and establish my colour pallet so they start to look like a possible colloection.

UNISEX?

As our Muse is unisex our group is toying with the possibility of Unisex clothing. I like the idea of designing very masculine clothing but for men and Women, as Kenzo Knitwear is quite oversized and masculine.

I researched some images of women in mens clothing and Felictiy in my group has experimented this process with her friends and documented through photography.

By designers Muzaffer Criou and Yoko Ono previously worked on mens clothing on women.

MUSE

After the Muse Workshop our group decided our Muse would stem from this picture.

We want to do both Male and Female clothing, possibly unisex. we want our Muse to be quirky but cool.

This is Suki and Odhai-su. They live on canal barge (a vintage) in London, most of the year they work in the city, Suki is a Librarian full time and is a fashion blogger by night. Odhai-su is a modern art curator. They have a fat ginger cat and spend their nights on their boat drinking whiskey.

KENZO KNITWEAR

As knit is my specialist area I intend to bring my idea's to collaborate my knit with other designs within the group. Looking at Kenzo knitwear it is very chunky, patterned and oversized which will work well with the crystal like shapes in my drawings.

These knits are very modern and I think quite masculine.

I like the splashes of colour in these, the clash of pattern and shape is a common denominator in kenzo and our theme.

EXPERIMENTING WITH WATERCOLOUR

To get the fluid shapes from within the crystals i today began to experiment with watercolour in water. I dipped just a small amount of paint into water and watched the results unfold. I also have documented through picture how the colour spreads and takes shape.

These images need work to bring out the vibrantcy of the colour but the shapes are beautiful and remind me of that in crystals/rocks.
Because I took the photgraphs in a glass this also gave the effect of a glass crystal ball (gypsy theory/magic).

I intend to develop these prints further through editing and bringing out the colour and crystal like qualitys in photoshop.
